I have never done quilling before but have seen many examples on pinterst before. The basic fundamentals of quilling are really easy but you have to be creative when placing them. I actually hated quilling to be honest, it was way to time consuming of an art form and really bored me. I made a coffee cup but it looked better upside down, so now it is a jelly fish.
For the essential question, "Artists ask questions", I went through a bunch of different questions but ultimately decided on one where I had the best idea for it. I chose the question "Is family a source of inspiration or copying?". To explain this question I used a photo of one of my favorite paintings that my mom did, and tried to replicate it as closely as possible. But obviously, looking at both of them, mine is both similar and very different than my moms. So would it be considered copying or using as inspiration? .....it depends on who you ask! My moms painting is on the left, mine is on the right.
I believe that tattoos are stories that are permanently on peoples bodies. Every tattoo has a little sense of meaning or feeling behind it, each tattoo tells its own story. I chose to do this project for "Artist Tell Stories" because I have always wanted a tattoo but can't decide what to get, so I chose my favorites and placed them in potential spots on the girl I drew. I zentangled the outskirts of the drawing because my grandma and aunt teach zentangle, so even that is a story in itself, about how family can teach others new skills and art styles.
